Festival of Lights

.

China Glaze Medallion

This is Medallion – another one from China Glaze glitter series. I have to admit that I was planning to show you something else today, that is not glitter, but when I opened my polishes drawer this one was calling my name….

We're celebrating Hanukkah here these days which is an 8 days holiday and it also known as Festival of Lights, and I was thinking that this polish is the perfect polish for this lights holiday because it looks like million colorful lights J

It has kind of a clear base, with tons of tiny gold glitter inside, like gold dust powder and tons of bigger colorful glitter. You probably know me already and know that I'm not a fan of golds and that was the reason why I almost didn't buy this one, but it seemed unique and I decided to give it a chance. I applied it first time today and I realized what I love in this one – its gold shade, with all the glitter, looks kind of a beaten gold (I hope that's how you say it) which is much more to my taste than a regular gold and its colorful glitter make it very unique. Still, I have to admit that it's hard for me to say that this is an everyday color (although I decided to leave it on my nails) but it can be really cool for going out in the evening because it would look stunning at night J

Like the others I've tried from this series, the application is easy, but there is the coats issue – if you want to use it as a top coat, one coat would be good, but if you want to get an opaque look like in the pictures, you need 4 coats – it dries pretty fast so you almost don't need to wait between one coat to another and its definitely worth the work !

And more from Hanukkah, look what we had here yesterday's evening ! We have some traditional food in Hanukkah (one of the holidays with the best food to my opinion) – there is kind of potato pancakes known as "Levivot", they are basically made from scraped potato and eggs, but I added zucchini too and it was yummy. There are many kinds of "Levivot" - The traditional ones with only potato and eggs, fried ones, baked ones, with vegetables, with cheese, sweet ones, with fruits etc. etc.

Another food in this holiday is the "Sufganiya", which is kind of a jam-filled doughnut. The jam (usually strawberry) is the traditional filling, and you can find also doughnuts filled with chocolate and other fillings.

I bought the doughnuts but I made the Levivot myself – everything was yummmyyyyy

I'm planning to cook some more this holiday, so if I'll have the energy to move myself into the kitchen and cook, I'll take some more pictures for you J

Happy Hanukkah !!!

MaijuS - Thank you :-))

KONADomania - LOL you made me laugh ! Thanks :-) And of course, I have many recipes, just let me know what are you intrested at. The basic recipe for the Levivot is like that:

3-4 potato - peeled, grated \(I hope that's thw word) and sqeezed.
2 eggs
1 spoon of flour - you can add more if you want it to be more solid
Salt $ Pepper

mix it all in a bowl then drop rounded tablespoons of the batter onto a pan with oil and fry it both sides.
I never wrote a recipe before, so I hope I did it right :-) if you have questions or you want more recipes please write me :-) I also made some with bananas and it turned out great !

gildedangel - I can't agree more...lol...it really is awesome :-)

Great, Tuli, you made me hungry again:D
I'll try it out, perhaps I could add some meat too, huh?:P Do you eat it as a side dish and to what or as a main dish and what you serve with it? thanks:*

Tuli said...

KONADomania - I'm hungry too now....lol....I don't know about meat, because I'm a vegi but I can search for it if you want. I eat this dish for dinner, with sour cream or yogurt and if I want, I add salad too, but you can also serve it as a side dish to meat or the best - have a whole meal based on Levivot - salty ones with potato, sweet potato, vegetables and cheese and sweet ones for dessert :-)))

Sorry I'm so behind. Happy Hanukkah to you. I've had potato pancakes before and they are delicious. Adding zuchinni in them must be really delicious. Love the doughnuts also. The Medallion looks fantastic on you. When I wore it I had 4 thick coats on and it took me 3 and 1/2 hours to get off! I still love my glitter.

Lucy - Thank you :-) This polish is something special ! And did you make the potato pancakes yourself ??
