Review: MAC Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara

.

I recently received MAC's new mascara called Haute & Naughty Lash for a review, and after two weeks of use, here's what I have to tell you about it :

MAC describes this mascara as follows:

"A two-in-one mascara that lets you choose if you want lashes to be naturally defined, or instantly combed and loaded for full-on drama. Easy to use dual-wiper system allows this lightweight formula to go on either way. One wiper refines the application for a clean sweep, while the other loads the lashes for greater impact"

Interesting, ha ? Well, it sure is. This mascara has two caps – one is fuchsia and the other is a glittery purple – each one has a different applicator. The pink one is the skinnier handle for a more natural look and the purple one is the thicker handle for a more dramatic look.

Actually, the brush itself is the same, and the difference is in the amount of mascara you get. With the thicker applicator you get a full amount of mascara and a fuller and more dramatic look and the skinnier applicator actually pulls through the opening of the thicker and filter the amount of mascara, in order to give a more separated and natural look.

In this picture I took, I pulled out the brush thru the skinnier applicator and you can see the large amount of mascara that was left on the end, this is the amount that being filtered thanks to this patent.

The skinnier applicator did a great job in separating the lashes and it's excellent for those who want a natural and casual look. Personally, I prefer more dramatic look, but for those of you who love the natural look, this does a great job.

The thicker applicator was more "me" – it colors the lashes in a dark black and emphasizes the lashes, like I love. What I loved less, is its tendency to leave small clumps, that kind of ruin the look, which supposed to be more meticulous.

The best way that I've found to use this mascara, is to use the thick handle first and then go with the skinnier handle to a second coat and separate the lashes, the result was beautiful and dramatic, although not perfect, because of the small clumps.

This mascara takes a few seconds to dry, so do yourself a favor and give it its time so you won't find yourself looking like a rugby player (it happened to me with a different mascara, just a minute before I had to leave the house, and let me tell you, it wasn't pretty…), it holds up very well a full day and you can find it only in black.

Overall, I love this mascara, although I can't say that I've found the perfect mascara for me. If it wasn't the little clumps (not something hysterical, but still…) maybe this could have been the one, because it's fun to play with and it gives a full and dramatic look.
